Show was great! The sheer guts to play their album front to back is just admirable as hell. It's a good album, and I honestly think they played the Oceania material with more heart than some of the classic stuff. The new guitarist is great, and I was happy to see him get plenty of opportunities to shred and solo and sound great doing it. Barclay center sounded fantastic. I look forward to seeing more shows and drinking more enormous beers there.

Didn't mean to be a troll on the B side thing, you clearly know your stuff about the pumpkins. Good review, and one of the few reviews online, which is a shame. It's great to see an older band not just putting on a nostalgia tour and putting serious effort into their new music.

Thanks for commenting! X.Y.U. is track 9 on the second disc of Mellon Collie (Twilight to Starlight). It would be side 4 on a double vinyl album. I was being a little loose with the term "b-side", and we've revised the article.

One of the most amazing bands I have seen in a long long time. I used to work with Ramones, Iggy Pop, Talking Heads, Dead Kennedys, The Cramps, and many other groups. I go to shows constantly. The Orwells are going to be MASSIVE. They have the right songs, the right live show, the right attitude, at exactly the right time.

This was my 3x seeing him in NYC. He sounded the best out of all the times. As for the song list it could of been better, but since he did not have out a new CD he can play what he want's. The few Smith's song's were gems. As for the crowd, I was the 10 row and most all were die hard fans. The light show made wonderful pic's. I felt this concert was about him and his statements,feelings, and he did what he liked . I was kind of disappointed hoping he would sing There is a light that never goes out, but he did not. I was thinking maybe he will since he had a light hanging from the stage. Oh well enough said :)
If he comes back to NY yes I would see him. Im a true fan.

While I know it is purely a matter of opinion, I thought the show was merely okay and the audience acted like it was half dead. Morrissey looked like he had someplace else to be all night and the number of people checking email and baseball scores was comical. I wasn't in the front row (they appeared to be having a smashing good time) but as far as anyone back further, it was sort of dismal.
Someone actually asked me to sit down so they could see. I had to remind her we were actually at a rock concert.

Reviewer doesn't comment on the glut of substandard recent (past 5 yrs) material, which much of the crowd didn't know and politely tolerated; the empty seats, which peaked during Meat is Murder's 5+ minutes of graphic slaughterhouse footage; the nightmarish Still Ill, when the pit was allowed to rush the stage and Morrissey barely attempted to sing...altogether very little with and no sex or anger. Like a Morrissey impersonator, a man with nothing to prove. Sad.
